The Alternative Technique Class program was founded in 1998 by past Co-Artistic Director Jessica Runge. We offer innovative professional development workshops to professional dance artists, taught by established dance professionals. These are opportunities to explore alternative techniques and practices, as well as the creative visions and processes of diverse dance artists.

Use this page to find out about our new discount plan, how to register and the scholarships that we offer. We are also looking for billeting for some of our out-of-town ATC teachers and can offer an honourarium or free attendance to an ATC in exchange.

Be sure to also take a look at our ATC Program page, to see all the workshop descriptions, the bios of the teacher and the early bird dates.

Important

The Series 8:08 Alternative Technique Classes program aims to provide a positive, supportive, and respectful learning environment, where individuals are encouraged to challenge themselves within the limit of their capacities and according to their abilities. We aim to offer participants the chance to learn from accomplished dance-artists who have made a significant contribution to dance in our community, and whose artistry inspires.

Series 8:08 reserves the right to remove participants from our classes in the event that their actions are deemed to interfere with our ability to provide the type of learning environment we aim to offer.

Each participant will be expected to take full responsibility for his/her involvement in the class, participating in accordance with his/her comfort and ability. To this end, all participants will be required to sign waivers accepting responsibility for their participation in class before attending our workshops. Waivers will be provided to particpants upon arrival at workshops.

If you have feedback for us, please let us know. We'd love to hear from you.
